Our A.D.E system is specifically designed to provide students with the skills to, not only protect themselves, but learn how to be preemptive in avoiding and defusing potentially dangerous situations all together. In our mentality, the highest goal is safety, and the greatest win is the fight never fought.

Courses and Costs

Citadel – Safety, Education, and Defense training are available for both public classes and private workshops/seminars.

All private sessions are specifically tailored to fit the aims of our clients and are available in  English, Vietnamese and dual language. Private sessions and workshops can be created for groups of any size from one-on-one classes to up to fifty students.

Who We Are

Gus Roe:

Gus Roe is an instructor of traditional Vietnamese Kung Fu, he has been training in many styles of martial arts from a young age and has achieved ranks in: Phat Gia Quyen, Tae Kwon Do, Soo Bahk Do, Wing Chun, White Crane Kung Fu, Arnis and Wrestling. Gus has lived in Vietnam for around seven years and is heavily involved in the Vietnamese martial arts scene, including many appearances in TV and film along with the release of his book ‘The Martial Arts Of Vietnam’ through Nha The Gioi Publishers in 2016. Gus has many years experience teaching all  ages from children to adults, currently he teaches classes of both traditional martial arts and practical self-defense.

Kevin Raison:

With a black belt in American Karate and 7 years of martial arts training on 3 continents, Kevin has been working in training and education for more than 4 years. As a former personal trainer with a degree in Psychology and an added minor in Nutrition, he understands the importance of personalized and adaptive training that works to fit each unique student’s needs. Kevin has trained most extensively in Kyusho Kenpo, a hybrid style which incorporates elements of Kyusho-Jutsu pressure point fighting, grappling, locking, and escapes with the strong fast striking of American Kenpo. He has also practiced Muay Thai, Aikido, Small Circle Jiujitsu, Judo, and Brazilian Jiujitsu. Having studied and worked in multiple inner cities in the US as well as having traveled through countries in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and South East Asia, he has amassed a broad range of simple and effective personal safety experiences he is eager to share with students to help keep themselves safe from attack or theft.

Gai Sisson: 

Gai has been a student of martial arts for over ten years and has been a teacher of Filipino martial arts for 5 years. He grew up around and trained with local masters of the Filipino martial art of Arnis, focusing on both the sport and combative/tactical aspects of stick and blade fighting. He also had a bit of experience in judo and Tae Kwon Do, in his years at university. Outside of being a passionate learner of combat techniques, he loves to read and play video games. Obviously, most of the characters he identifies with are swordsmen. Currently, he works as a teacher and has a lot of adorable students who try to murder him with pencils and pens. He would like to travel and experience more of different martial arts around the world and learn the languages that are used with them, like Capoeira in Brazil or Aikido in Japan.


Ashley Sutton: 

Ashley has been interested in martial arts since the age of 18, when he took up Boxing. He later started training and competing in Judo before adding Muay Thai training to his life. With this background he made the transition into mixed martial arts, training a mixture of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Wrestling and Muay Thai. He competed in mixed martial arts before deciding to avoid get punched in the head by focussing his training on grappling arts such as Judo and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He is a primary school teacher by profession and as such has extensive experience of teaching in China, the UK and Vietnam. Ashley has discovered that training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu has the potential to be tremendously useful in a self defense situation as well as being the most fun a human can have. He loves sharing opportunities to learn this fantastic art with adults and children alike.
